Crossing the imposing Andes by road is one of the most stunning experiences a traveller can have on the South American continent. In May 2026, Mundo a Passeio ran another unforgettable edition of its well-established Grand Tour Andino, bringing together a lively group that left Porto Alegre for a journey of cinematic landscapes, refined culture and first-class food.
Over two weeks of road and rest, our travellers crossed the vast Argentine plains, enjoyed the tree-lined charm of Mendoza, admired the snow-capped peaks of Aconcagua, and discovered the modernity of Santiago, Chile, and the historic past of Córdoba.
Highlights of the itinerary
Each day of the Grand Tour Andino was designed to balance contemplation of nature, safety and leisure:
- Mendoza and the wines at the foot of the mountains: Guided visits to the region's main bodegas (wineries) in Luján de Cuyo and Maipú, Malbec tastings with commentary and dinners paired with premium cuts of meat.
- Crossing the Andes: The most moving stretch of the trip. The route through Uspallata, the Puente del Inca and the spectacular view of the Parque Provincial do Aconcagua delighted everyone. The descent via the Chilean Caracoles offered breathtaking views.
- Santiago and the Pacific coast: The Chilean capital impressed with its cleanliness, well-kept parks and visits to the Palacio de La Moneda and the Bellavista district, with an extension to the coastal cities of Valparaíso and Viña del Mar.
- Córdoba and its colonial charm: On the return, the Argentine university city surprised with its Jesuit buildings and warm atmosphere.

The confidence of travelling with people who know the route
A coach crossing of the Andes calls for drivers experienced in mountain routes, thoroughly serviced leito (sleeper) coaches and bilingual coordinators attentive to all customs formalities and to the group's wellbeing. At Mundo a Passeio, this dedication is our greatest commitment.
