The Triângulo Mineiro is one of the cradles of Spiritism in Brazil, and our expedition covers, over eight days, the places and stories that shaped this faith. From Uberaba, the city of Chico Xavier, to Sacramento, home of Eurípedes Barsanulfo, here are the places the trip visits.

What does the Spiritist expedition visit in Uberaba?

In Uberaba, where Chico Xavier, the country's greatest medium, chose to live from 1959, the expedition visits the Casa de Memórias de Chico Xavier, which keeps objects and memories from his life, and the Memorial Chico Xavier, a space dedicated to his work.

The city breathes Spiritism, and the expedition takes part in mediumistic meetings, with passes (spiritual healing treatments), talks and psychographies, in the way he helped to establish. Other notable places are part of the programme, such as the Casa da Sopa, with its charitable work, and traditional Spiritist centres in the city. If you would like to learn more about his story before travelling, read who Chico Xavier was and why Uberaba became a destination of faith.

What is the Fonte Dona Beja, in Araxá?

The Fonte Dona Beja is a historic complex in Araxá, Minas Gerais, linked to one of the most remembered figures of 19th-century Minas. The complex, with its waters and its old houses, tells something of the Minas of legends and spa towns.

A breath of nature in Pratinha

The expedition is not only about meetings. In Pratinha, there is a breath of nature, with visits that may include, depending on the programme for the day, the Gruta dos Palhares or the Instituto Espírita do Amor. It is the green pause in the middle of the journey.

What is there to visit in Sacramento, Minas Gerais, linked to Eurípedes Barsanulfo?

In Sacramento, Minas Gerais, the expedition visits places linked to Eurípedes Barsanulfo, who founded the Colégio Allan Kardec in 1907, considered the first Spiritist school in the world, such as the school itself and the Fazenda Santa Maria. It is the most historical part of the trip, and one of the most moving.

What the trip is like

The eight days are travelled by leito total (sleeper-class) coach, with Starlink internet on board, so the group can travel comfortably and stay connected. The road between one city and the next is part of the experience too: it is where the group gets to know each other and friendships begin, as we describe in the friendship that begins on the road.
