Spiritist events calendar in Brazil and worldwide

This page lists the major Spiritist gatherings whose dates and venues are confirmed at the organiser's own source. The survey was carried out on 11 September 2026, and each item gives the address of the page where the information was read, so that you can check it. An event whose date has not been published by its organiser is not included in this list.

Guatambu Travel organises Spiritist caravans departing from Porto Alegre for the Triângulo Mineiro, and keeps this calendar because the same question always comes up: besides the trip to Minas, what Spiritist gatherings are there to attend, and when? Update of 18 October 2026: the 31st Conjergs took place on 10 and 11 October in five cities in Rio Grande do Sul, and now has its own section on this page, with the venue of each hub, the theme and the official summary.

What are the next confirmed Spiritist events?

19th Encontro Nacional dos Amigos de Jesus Cristo com Chico Xavier, Campo Grande, 31 October and 1 November 2026

This is the gathering usually called simply the Encontro de Amigos de Chico (Friends of Chico meeting). The 19th edition takes place on 31 October and 1 November 2026, at the Centro de Convenções Arquiteto Rubens Gil de Camillo, on Avenida Waldir dos Santos Pereira, s/n (no street number), Parque dos Poderes, Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul, CEP (postcode) 79031-350. Attendance is free, with prior registration through a form.

The gathering is itinerant, and recent editions show its reach: Araçatuba (SP) in 2025, Sinop (MT) in 2024, Torres (RS) in 2023, three online editions between 2020 and 2022, Jundiaí (SP) in 2019, Sete Lagoas (MG) in 2018 and São José dos Campos (SP) in 2017. Ordinary Meeting of the Conselho Federativo Nacional (National Federative Council), Brasília, November

The Conselho Federativo Nacional of the Federação Espírita Brasileira (Brazilian Spiritist Federation, FEB) holds annual ordinary meetings in November, at FEB's headquarters in Brasília. It is a meeting of representatives of the state federations, not an event open to the public, but it is the meeting that sets the guidelines of the Brazilian Spiritist movement for the following year. FEB does not publish the exact date of each edition on its institutional page.

And the international events?

World Spiritist Congress (Congresso Espírita Mundial)

This is the largest international Spiritist gathering, promoted by the International Spiritist Council in partnership with the federation of the host country. The 11th edition took place on 4 and 5 October 2025, at the Convention Centre in Punta del Este, in Maldonado, Uruguay, with the theme “Life after Life”, and it was the first to also include the 1st World Spiritist Youth Congress, integrated into the main programme. The activities had simultaneous interpretation in Portuguese, Spanish and English, and attendance was free for young people up to 25 years old, with prior registration.

As of 11 September 2026, the International Spiritist Council had not announced the date or venue of the 12th edition. When it does, it will be added here.

The eleven editions held so far:

Edition Venue Year
1st Brasília, Brazil 1995
2nd Lisbon, Portugal 1998
3rd Guatemala City, Guatemala 2001
4th Paris, France 2004
5th Cartagena, Colombia 2007
6th Valencia, Spain 2010
7th Havana, Cuba 2013
8th Lisbon, Portugal see note
9th Mexico not stated on the page
10th Paris, France 2022
11th Punta del Este, Uruguay 2025

A note on staying honest with the source: the council's page lists the 8th congress in Lisbon with the year “1016”, which is clearly a typing error. As no other date is published there, the year is left unconfirmed in this table rather than inferred. 31st Conjergs: how the October 2026 edition went

On the weekend of 10 and 11 October 2026, Rio Grande do Sul felt too small for all the Spiritist youth gathering there. Around 1,300 participants took part in the 31st Conjergs, the Confraternização de Juventudes Espíritas do Rio Grande do Sul (Spiritist Youth Gathering of Rio Grande do Sul), which is held every two years and promoted by the Federação Espírita do Rio Grande do Sul. The theme that guided the two days of study, fellowship and fraternity was “Mediumship with Jesus: ‘Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also’” (Matthew 6:21).

Instead of concentrating everything in a single venue, this edition spread the gathering across the state, with the same programme of study and integration taking place at the same time in the five federative hubs, so that each group of young people was welcomed close to home. The same gathering ran from Itaqui, in the far west border country, to Gravataí, in the Greater Porto Alegre area:

Hub City Venue
Amor (6th and 7th regions) Itaqui Escola Estadual São Patrício, Av. Tiradentes 1858, Bairro Cidade Alta
Bondade (4th, 5th and 13th regions) Pelotas Escola Francisco Caruccio, Av. Leopoldo Brod 370, Bairro Três Vendas
Caridade (8th and 9th regions) Santo Ângelo Colégio Estadual Pedro II, Rua Marechal Floriano 3848, Bairro Pascotini
Doação (2nd, 3rd, 14th and 15th regions) Charqueadas Escola Municipal Otávio Reis, Rua Rio Branco 170
Esperança (1st, 10th, 11th and 12th regions) Gravataí Sítio Muller, Morro Agudo 1020, Bairro Itacolomi

Each hub brought together the young people from the municipalities of its region. The Esperança hub, for example, included Porto Alegre, Gravataí, Cachoeirinha, Alvorada, Viamão and Torres, among other cities, while the Amor hub welcomed young people from Uruguaiana, São Borja, Bagé and Santana do Livramento.

For those already looking ahead to the next edition, one detail changes the planning: registration is not individual. Young people register through the youth evangelisation leaders of their Spiritist centre, and it is the centre that is linked to the hub of its region. If you are interested and are not part of this circuit, the first step is to look for the youth evangelisation group at a Spiritist centre in your city.

As the gathering takes place every two years, the natural expectation is that the next edition will come in 2028. The date and cities, however, will only appear on this page once the organiser publishes them, and official announcements are released through FERGS channels.

And where does Guatambu fit in? We follow the Conjergs closely because it is a gathering in our own state and a question that always comes up among those who travel with us, but we currently have no departure of our own published for the gathering, and we will not promise an itinerary that does not exist. When there is a Guatambu caravan for the next edition, it will appear first on the expeditions page, and WhatsApp with our agent remains the channel for a real conversation, from first contact to the return. In the meantime, if your Spiritist centre is organising to take its own young people, we are glad to take care of the group's logistics: the step-by-step is in bus charter for groups.

2026 events that have already taken place

They are recorded here because they recur and help to anticipate the next edition, without the forecast being presented as a confirmed date. The 31st Conjergs, which also took place in 2026, has its own section in the previous item.

What are the fixed dates in the Spiritist calendar?

They are not events but anniversaries, and almost every Spiritist centre marks them with some activity:

In Uberaba, 2 April usually brings a programme at the Memorial Chico Xavier, organised by the Fundação Cultural de Uberaba (Uberaba Cultural Foundation). Each year's programme is released by the city government close to the date, and for that reason it does not appear on this list in advance.

How to confirm a date before travelling

Three precautions that avoid a wasted trip, and that apply to any event on this page:

  1. Check the organiser's website, not a social media post that has been shared again. Spiritist event dates do change, and the correction almost always appears first at the official source.
  2. See whether prior registration is required. Several gatherings are free but require registration through a form, and the form closes before the event.
  3. For itinerant gatherings, confirm the city of that year's edition. The Encontro Nacional dos Amigos de Jesus Cristo com Chico Xavier, for example, changed state in each of the three most recent in-person editions.

Is any event missing from this list?

Probably, and on purpose. Only events whose date has been published by the organiser, and can be checked by the reader, are included here. A gathering announced only in conversation, a poster without a date or something passed on by a third party is not included, because the person who travels because of the information is the one who pays for the mistake.

If you organise a Spiritist gathering with a published date and venue, Guatambu Travel can include it here. The contact is on the page for the Spiritist caravan departing from Porto Alegre.

What if the event you are interested in requires group travel?

Many of the gatherings on this list take place far from those who want to attend, and the difference between going and not going is usually logistics, not willingness. Guatambu Travel runs Spiritist caravans departing from Porto Alegre, with the itinerary of the Minas departure on the Spiritist caravan page.

If the group already exists, the route is different. A Spiritist centre, study group or large family that wants to take its own people does not need to buy individual seats: Guatambu Travel arranges coach hire with partner operators, with no fleet of its own, and builds the itinerary for that closed group. How this works, what the law requires of the operator and how to check the company is explained in bus charter for groups. Anyone organising a trip to another state and needing support in Rio Grande do Sul will find the equivalent in ground handling for groups.

And if you simply want to enjoy the journey without worrying about anything, the way forward is to talk to us: see the departures published on the expeditions page and message our agent on WhatsApp. This is how we work, with leito (fully reclining sleeper) and semi-leito (semi-sleeper) coaches, an unhurried pace, a guide who knows the itinerary and the care that older travellers deserve, from first contact to the return.
